Which microscopic explanations can the students give for the electric current;

In this study, we present alternative ideas of the students of the Pedagogical Department of Democritus University of Thrace about electric current in the microscopic level as we concluded them from their answers to an extensive questionnaire which included mainly open-ended questions. From our research, which is quantitative and follows a previous qualitative study we infer that the majority of the students are unable to give microscopic explanations which are in agreement with the scientific model.
