In this poster, we present the real experiments that were implemented in a Teaching Learning Sequence lasting 5 lessons (10 teaching hours). The implementation has taken place in fifth graders (10 ?11 year old pupils). Density as the property of materials is introduced in order to interpret sinking/floating phenomena. The theoretical basis for the design of the sequence was focused on an inquiry and model-based approach. The sequence reported here is a part of a European project on Materials Science.
