In the present paper a teaching sequence on meteorological phenomena, and especially the wind, is described through the use of hands-on experiments, software and the internet. More specifically, the paper aims at the wind formation understanding, the development of the wind specification ability on weather maps and the problem-solving of everyday related issues by seeking appropriate information in the internet. This teaching sequence was practised on prospective elementary teachers, currently undergraduate students of the Faculty of Education, University of Athens, during winter semester 2008-09 and the research findings appear to be rather encouraging.
